More Information

Ozempic, a semaglutide medication approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was initially designed to aid in the treatment of type 2 diabetes by increasing insulin production and lowering blood sugar levels. It has also been prescribed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular issues. Notably, this drug became known for its weight loss side effect.

Our Investigation

As the use of Ozempic has risen, concerns have emerged regarding potential gastrointestinal injuries associated with prolonged use. Our firm is currently investigating Ozempic lawsuits related to diagnoses such as:

  • Gastroparesis
  • Stomach Paralysis
  • Gastrointestinal Obstruction
  • Ileus

If you have been diagnosed with any of these conditions or have experienced severe and persistent vomiting, please reach out to us for a complimentary evaluation of your potential Ozempic lawsuit.

What is Ozempic?

Ozempic works as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, slowing digestion and aiding in insulin release. While not initially approved for weight loss, it has been increasingly prescribed off-label for this purpose. Wegovy, a higher dose of the same drug, received FDA approval specifically for weight management in 2021.

Ozempic Side Effects and Health Risks

Studies indicate that Ozempic use may elevate the risk of gallbladder and biliary diseases, with risks potentially increasing over time and with higher doses. Side effects may include:

  • Acute kidney injury
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Gallbladder inflammation
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Liver or kidney failure
  • Nausea
  • Pancreatitis
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Vision loss
  • Vomiting

Some side effects may persist even after discontinuation of the drug. Furthermore, there are concerns about a potential connection between Ozempic and an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.
